Ahad Sons
The foundation of Ahad sons was laid down by Abdul Ahad Khan in late seventies with the great concept of promoting the Kashmiri cuisine (Wazwan) outside the valley. Abdul Ahad Khan was a legendry Kashmiri chef, who had inherited the legacy of culinary expertise from his father Ghulam Nabi Khan, whose ancestors had come from Samarkand central Asia in 1500 AD to establish their culinary skills in the valley.
Ahad sahab was very passionate about promoting the Kashmiri cuisine in the whole world, so he started a catering unit in Delhi, to give the authentic taste of this royal cuisine which is known as Wazwan. the word comes from “Waza” meaning chef and the “Wan” is his culinary shop- so Wazwan literally means culinary shop of a masterchef. Known to be a multi-course traditional cuisine in Kashmir, the preparation of Wazwan is considered as an art and pride of Kashmiri culture.
Ahad Sahab, aware that Delhi is inhabited by the people all across the world, thought of it to be the best place to promote Wazwan. By that time the flavour of Wazwan was confined to the valley only.
In the year 1984, the first Kashmir food festival was organized in Mumbai Oberoi, which marked as the beginning of a journey to promote Kashmiri food outside the valley. Ever since, Ahad Sons have been promoting the Kashmiri cuisine with Oberoi group of hotels, Taj Resorts Hotels and Palaces, JW Marriott, ITC Maurya, Le Meridian and other 5 star properties in India as well as aboard. Whenever there was any event or function related to Kashmir food, Ahad Sons has been the ultimate choice of everyone.
Ahad Sons has had the honour of serving authentic Kashmiri food to former Presidents, Prime Ministers and Chief Ministers of the country on several occasions. The hospitality and protocol department of Jammu & Kashmir, which is a prestigious department of the state, has been serving all the dignitaries who have been coming to the state as special guests over the world. Ahad Sons has served them with their authentic Kashmiri cuisine and best services. For more than three decades, Ahad Sons has been catering to royal families, VVIP’s, VIP’s, celebrities, industrialists, politicians, film stars, bureaucrats, etc.etc
Ahad Sons has also dedicated a book titled “Wazwan” to great legendary Kashmiri chef Abdul Ahad Khan, published by Roli books private limited, which in itself is a great master piece and is in great demand in India and aboard.
To continue with the passion of serving authentic Kashmiri cuisine from its place of origin, Ahad Sons had started a “state of art” canning unit in Kashmir in the year 1999-2000, which is FSSAI, ISO 22000:2005 and a Halal certified food processing unit.
The passion and devotion of Ahad Sons towards promoting the culture and tradition of Kashmir, by this royal cuisine, has curved a prominent niche for the Kashmiri cuisine in the world gourmet industry.
